Shamsud-Din Jabbar, aged 42, is identified as the suspect in a fatal truck attack that resulted in 15 deaths and injuring dozens during a New Year’s celebration in New Orleans.
The FBI is investigating the incident as a potential act of terrorism due to the presence of an Islamic State flag on Jabbar’s vehicle.
Authorities indicated Jabbar did not act alone and are currently searching for accomplices involved in the attack.
Jabbar, who served in the US Army for 13 years with deployment in Afghanistan, died at the scene after engaging police in a shootout.
Investigators discovered weapons and possible explosives in the truck, as well as other locations in the French Quarter.
