The Iranian football federation is preparing to lodge a formal complaint with FIFA, claiming that their team is facing significant travel restrictions during the World Cup in North America. The complaint arises after Iran's request to fly from their base camp in Tijuana, Mexico, to the U.S. two days before their match against Belgium was rejected, according to an Iranian federation spokesman aljazeera, reuters, and scmp.
The federation indicated that the restrictions are disrupting the team's ability to prepare adequately for matches, stating, "Despite having submitted its preparation schedule for the tournament well in advance, Iran’s national football team has once again encountered restrictions imposed by the organisers." The desire to travel early was to allow players time to adjust and conduct final training sessions before the match reuters and scmp.
