Comedian Conan O’Brien is set to host the 99th Academy Awards in 2027, marking his third consecutive year in this role. O'Brien has previously hosted the prestigious ceremony in 2025 and 2026, capturing positive reviews and significantly boosting viewership from pandemic-era lows, according to Reuters and Los Angeles Times.
O’Brien's first year as host drew 19.7 million viewers, the highest in five years, although the viewership dipped to 17.9 million in 2026, highlighting ongoing challenges for awards shows amid a shift in audience preferences towards streaming and social media content. "Conan has created remarkable energy around the Oscars," said Craig Erwich, President of Disney Television Group, emphasizing O’Brien’s unique comedic style, according to Channel News Asia and Los Angeles Times.
Executive producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan will again oversee the production of the event, continuing a collaboration that has yielded engaging ceremonies in past years. The 2027 Oscars will be broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and will mark the penultimate event at that location before it moves to downtown Los Angeles and begins streaming on YouTube in 2029, according to Reuters and Channel News Asia.
