In a tragic incident, three Palestinian women were killed when missile debris struck a beauty salon in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday evening. The attack, attributed to debris from an Iranian missile, also resulted in injuries to thirteen individuals, one of whom is in critical condition, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and the official Palestinian news agency, Wafa. The women killed were identified as Mais Ghazi Masalmeh, 17; Sahira Rizq Masalmeh, 50; and Amal Sobhi Abdel Karim Matawa' Masalmeh, 36 according to Reuters, Al Jazeera, and BBC.
The missile hit the salon located in Beit Awwa, southwest of Hebron, causing significant damage and resulting in casualties from falling debris. Eyewitnesses noted that the strike occurred shortly after the Israeli military reported that Iranian missiles had been fired towards Israel. While Iranian forces have been launching consistent missile attacks, reports indicate they have not intentionally targeted Palestinian areas, raising concerns about the consequences for civilians in the region, according to Reuters, Al Jazeera, and BBC.
The situation remains critical as emergency first responders struggled to reach the scene due to restricted access in the area. Numerous ambulances were deployed to assist the injured and manage the aftermath of the attack, highlighting the precarious conditions faced by both medical teams and civilians in the region. This incident marks a grim escalation in the ongoing violence as the conflict between Israel and Iran continues to affect civilian populations, particularly in Palestinian territories, according to Reuters, Al Jazeera, and BBC.
