  • Iran continues missile and drone strikes against Gulf nations despite a presidential apology.
  • Gulf states report increasing attacks, with hundreds of missiles and drones intercepted.
  • UAE President declares the Emirates are in a "period of war."
  • Dubai airport briefly closed following nearby aerial interceptions.
  • Kuwait and Jordan report damage and threats due to the ongoing Iranian aggression.

On March 7, Gulf nations reported a series of new missile and drone attacks originating from Iran, exacerbating tensions as the conflict entered a second week. Loud explosions were reported in major cities including Dubai, Doha, and Bahrain's Manama, with subsequent strikes causing widespread alarm in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait. Despite Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi's earlier apology to Gulf nations, asserting that they would not be targeted unless strikes were launched from their territories, Iranian authorities reaffirmed their intent to strike sites they deem "at the disposal of the enemy," according to SCMP, Channel News Asia, Channel News Asia, and Le Monde.

In a televised address, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan characterized the country’s situation as a "period of war," assuring citizens that they would "emerge stronger" following the conflict. On the same day, authorities in Dubai reported a fatal incident involving a Pakistani national, killed by debris from an aerial interception, illustrating the immediate dangers posed by ongoing hostilities, according to SCMP, Channel News Asia, Channel News Asia, and Le Monde.

Earlier that day, Dubai's main airport, one of the world's busiest, was closed temporarily due to reports of an unidentified object being intercepted nearby. Witnesses described loud explosions and smoke following the interception, which led to a suspension of flights by Emirates Airline, although operations later resumed. The UAE Ministry of Defense reported that of the 16 ballistic missiles fired toward the country, all but one were intercepted, and nearly all of 121 drones were brought down, indicating a significant level of defensive activity amid the ongoing assaults, according to SCMP, Channel News Asia, Channel News Asia, and Le Monde.

Additionally, reports indicated that while Kuwait announced a "precautionary" cut in oil production due to the ongoing threats, it successfully intercepted seven drones in a single day. Jordan also expressed concern over Iranian aggression, citing that missiles and drones targeting its sites were specifically aimed at vital installations rather than merely passing through its territory. This escalation not only impacts regional security but poses risks to critical transportation and oil shipping routes, especially in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for global oil supply, according to SCMP, Channel News Asia, Channel News Asia, and Le Monde.
