The **Pentagon has added Tencent and CATL** to its list of Chinese companies perceived as threats to **US national security**.
This brings the total to **134 military companies**, including **five new additions** named in a Federal Register publication.
The listing is part of efforts to counter Beijing's **military-civil fusion strategy**, mandated by the **Defence Authorisation Act** since 1999.
**Tencent's spokesperson** called the designation a "mistake," reiterating that they are not a military supplier.
This development comes amid further **tensions between the US and China**, including potential investment bans and increased scrutiny over tech imports.
