The U.S. National Labor Relations Board has filed a complaint against Google, asserting it must negotiate with a union representing contract workers.
The complaint identifies Google as a "joint employer" of 50 content creation workers at Accenture Flex who joined the Alphabet Workers Union in 2023.
This follows an earlier investigation into alleged changes in working conditions by Google and Accenture Flex, made without prior bargaining.
Google argues it does not exercise sufficient control to be deemed a joint employer; however, previous rulings have required negotiations in similar cases.
The current case will be assessed by an administrative judge, as Google faces mounting challenges from labor organizing efforts.
