A key organizer of the Southport riots, Andrew McIntyre, has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for using social media to incite violence.
McIntyre operated a Telegram channel called “Southport Wake Up,” spreading misinformation following a knife attack on July 29.
Judge Flewitt emphasized McIntyre's actions motivated racial hatred and encouraged violent disorder and damage.
Evidence presented included McIntyre's posts prompting violence and threats towards police, alongside possession of weapons and extremist literature.
Campaign group Hope Not Hate praised the conviction, stating the UK is safer with McIntyre imprisoned. Read more.
