The Czech Republic's President Petr Pavel has approved 40 applications from citizens wishing to fight in Ukraine against Russia.
This approval marks a doubling of applications compared to the previous year, highlighting growing interest in supporting Ukraine.
A total of 109 applications were submitted, with approval required due to legal restrictions on serving in foreign armies.
The Czech Republic has provided around CZK 4.9 billion in military aid to Ukraine since February 2022, including weaponry and training for Ukrainian soldiers.
The ongoing conflict, now nearing its fourth year, may see increased contributions from foreign volunteers, including Czech nationals.
