John Singer Sargent's portraits of **American heiresses**, referred to as **‘dollar princesses’**, will be featured at **Kenwood House** in London.
The exhibition marks the **centenary of Sargent’s death** in 1925 and includes **18 notable portraits** including figures like **Edith, Lady Playfair**.
Curator **Wendy Monkhouse** aims to challenge the **misogynistic stereotypes** surrounding these women and bring attention to their individual stories.
Despite their wealth and societal contributions, these women have often been overlooked, leading to new research and context being provided for their lives.
The exhibition runs from **May 16 to October 5**, showcasing how Sargent combined **American confidence with British aristocratic context** in his artwork.
