On Sunday evening, over **260 Rohingya refugees** arrived in **Indonesia** on two boats, primarily consisting of **women and children**.
The **East Aceh police chief**, Nova Suryandaru, announced that police and military personnel are collaborating with the **U.N. refugee agency** to ensure the refugees' safety.
This marks a continuation of a trend, with over **300 Rohingya** having landed in East Aceh since February of this year.
Approximately **1 million Rohingya** currently reside in camps in **Bangladesh**, many fleeing a harsh military crackdown in **Myanmar** in 2017.
Indonesia, although not a signatory to the **UN Refugee Convention**, often provides temporary shelter to refugees in need, appealing for **international support** amid increased arrivals.
