150 military police officers from Central America have arrived in Haiti to support the government's efforts against violent gangs.
This deployment includes approximately 75 officers from Guatemala and a small number from El Salvador, aimed at restoring order in the capital.
The Kenyan commander of the U.N.-backed mission emphasized that gangs must either surrender or confront the troops.
Intensified gang activity has resulted in 85% of Port-au-Prince being controlled by gangs since the 2021 assassination of President Jovenel Moise.
