Nine civilians, including women and children, were reportedly killed in an attack on a vehicle in Mali's Segou region last week, according to local reports.
A coalition of Tuareg groups and a civil society organization accused Malian armed forces and Russian mercenaries of being responsible for the attack.
The vehicle was targeted while traveling from the town of Niono towards a refugee camp in Mauritania.
The head of Kel Ansar, a prominent Tuareg group, demanded an investigation but exonerated Malian troops from the incident.
Human Rights Watch previously reported on serious abuses by Mali's armed forces and Wagner's fighters against civilians.
