BEREA, Ohio — The Cleveland Browns have initiated a significant shakeup after enduring a disappointing 3-14 season, confirming the firings of offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and offensive line coach Andy Dickerson after their lackluster performance this season.
According to sources, both coaches were dismissed following the Browns’ disappointing 35-10 defeat against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night. NFL Network first reported the firing of the two coaches, who had only been with the team for one season. During that time, their performance was marred by inadequate offensive output, averaging just 15.2 points per game, which stands as the worst in the league.
Both Dorsey and Dickerson joined the Browns amid hopes of turning around the offense. Dorsey was originally brought in to reshape the unit around quarterback Deshaun Watson. However, injuries and inconsistent play led to a collapse in offensive efficiency, preventing the Browns from surpassing 20 points in more than half of their games. By the conclusion of the season, Cleveland’s passing offense was ranked 30th, while their rushing game faltered as they finished 28th overall in rushing yards.
Despite taking over play-calling duties from head coach Kevin Stefanski, Dorsey's efforts did not translate into better performance. Watson, who played only seven games due to a ruptured Achilles tendon, struggled to lead the offense, finishing with a disappointing passer rating that placed him near the bottom of the league. Watson finished with just three touchdown passes alongside multiple interceptions, highlighting the severe offensive issues.
As the Browns prepare for the offseason, head coach Kevin Stefanski is expected to address the media regarding these changes and the team’s future strategies. Stefanski, along with general manager Andrew Berry, is anticipated to remain with the organization as they aim to rebuild after this disappointing season.
