The **White House** has granted a final mining permit for **Perpetua Resources's** antimony and gold project in Idaho, aiming to boost U.S. production of a crucial mineral.
This decision comes after **China** blocked antimony exports to the U.S. last month, a component vital for manufacturing various goods.
The **U.S. Forest Service** finalized the permit following an **eight-year review**, based on environmental data and consultations with Indigenous groups.
Once operational by **2028**, the mine is expected to meet **over 35%** of America’s annual antimony needs and produce significant amounts of gold annually.
However, the project faces opposition from Idaho’s **Nez Percé tribe**, concerned about its environmental impact on local salmon populations.
