Thailand's Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has declared assets worth over $400 million, encompassing a remarkable collection of more than 200 designer handbags and 75 luxury watches.
The asset declaration was confirmed by her political party and filed with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), showcasing total assets of approximately 13.8 billion baht.
Among her possessions are 75 watches valued at 162 million baht, alongside an additional 39 timepieces and 217 handbags worth 76 million baht.
Paetongtarn, daughter of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, also reported liabilities of nearly five billion baht, leading to a net worth of 8.9 billion baht ($258 million).
Analyst Yuttaporn Issarachai emphasized the connection between wealth and politics in Thailand, noting that "money plays a crucial role in political activities" amid concerns over democracy.
