Indianapolis quarterback Anthony Richardson has been ruled out for the upcoming game against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to severe back pain.
Head coach Shane Steichen indicated Richardson did not show enough progress this week and missed practice for the second consecutive week.
Richardson revealed he faced challenges moving, even crawling around his home earlier in December, and described his current condition as the most severe he's experienced.
Veteran Joe Flacco will start in Richardson's place, having previously stepped in during the Colts' earlier matchup against the Jaguars where he threw for 359 yards.
Richardson's struggles included a low completion rate of 47.7% and contributing to the team's failure to qualify for the playoffs this season.
