Rosita Missoni, the renowned matriarch of the Italian fashion house known for its vibrant zigzag-patterned knitwear, has passed away at the age of 93.
Her family and Missoni SpA announced her peaceful death on Wednesday, reflecting on her profound impact on the fashion industry.
Born Rosita Jelmini and raised in a family with textile roots, she co-founded the Missoni label with her husband, Ottavio Missoni, in 1953 in Gallarate.
The Missonis gained fame after a pivotal commission from the Rinascente department store in 1958, propelling them to success in Milan.
Despite various challenges, including family tragedies, Rosita remained influential in the brand's direction, continuing her legacy in fashion.
