Transnistria's industrial sector is facing a crisis following the cut-off of Russian gas supplies, with only food production remaining operational.
Sergei Obolonik, the deputy prime minister, emphasized that all industrial enterprises are idle, warning of possible irreversible changes if the gas supply is not restored.
Heating and hot water have been cut to households, with residents advised to conserve warmth by gathering in single rooms.
The region’s leader stated that existing gas reserves could last up to 10 days, while the primary power plant has shifted from gas to coal.
The halt in supplies stems from Ukraine's refusal to renew a gas transit deal with Russia, marking a significant shift in energy dynamics in the region.
