FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The New York Jets have begun their search for a new head coach and general manager, having interviewed former Washington and Carolina coach Ron Rivera for the head coaching position and ESPN analyst Louis Riddick for the general manager vacancy. These interviews mark a significant step in the Jets' efforts to restructure their leadership following the dismissal of coach Robert Saleh in October and GM Joe Douglas in November.

Rivera, who is 62 years old and has a record of 102-103-2 over his coaching career, had a tumultuous tenure with the Commanders, finishing 26-40-1 before his exit. This past season, he worked as an NFL analyst for ESPN after previously leading the Panthers to a remarkable 15-1 season and a Super Bowl appearance in 2015. Known as "Riverboat Ron" for his bold decision-making, he also guided teams with losing records to the playoffs multiple times, proving his ability to navigate challenging situations.

Meanwhile, Riddick, 55, has a rich background in the NFL, serving as a defensive back and later transitioning to front office roles. He has been an analyst with ESPN since 2013, where he shares insights into NFL and collegiate football. Riddick's experience includes stints as a scout and personnel director with both Washington and the Philadelphia Eagles. He is among four known candidates for the GM role, alongside interim appointments and other former executives.

Currently, the Jets are under the interim leadership of Jeff Ulbrich, having concluded a disappointing 4-12 season. As they move forward in their search process, critical decisions loom over the franchise's future, especially regarding their star quarterback Aaron Rodgers as they contemplate whether to retain him for another year.
