A Pennsylvania man, Jack Danaher Molloy, who previously served in the U.S. Army, has been indicted for attempting to support the militant group Hezbollah, as announced by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) on January 2, 2025. Molloy, a dual citizen of the U.S. and Ireland, traveled to both Lebanon and Syria in 2024 with intentions to join Hezbollah, designated as a "foreign terrorist organization" by the U.S.

According to reports, Molloy attempted to join the group while in Lebanon in August 2024, but his efforts were unsuccessful, prompting his subsequent journey to Syria in October for the same purpose. Upon returning to the U.S. in late 2024, he allegedly continued his attempts to join Hezbollah and has been accused of spreading hatred, specifically targeting Jewish individuals.

The DOJ stated that during a WhatsApp conversation with a family member, he claimed his "master plan was to join Hezbollah and kill Jews." Molloy was arrested in Chicago on December 6, 2024, and now faces severe penalties, including up to 20 years in prison for providing material support to a terrorist organization. He had been on active duty from mid-March to late April 2019, prior to these events. For more details, visit the original article on The Hill.
