The **common noctule bat** (Nyctalus noctula) is a small bat species with wingspans of 12 to 18 inches, found across **North America, Europe, and Asia**.
Recent research published in the journal **Science** explains that these bats can effectively **“surf” on storm winds** to aid their long-distance migrations.
By employing **GPS and IoT trackers**, scientists studied the movements of 71 female bats and discovered they migrate on **warmer nights** with favorable winds.
Pregnant females exhibit **more caution** later in the migration season, as the wind conditions become less beneficial for traveling.
