The Indian automotive sector marked a successful end to 2024, with Maruti Suzuki and TVS Motors showcasing impressive sales performance. In December 2024, Maruti Suzuki reinforced its status as the market leader by selling 1,30,117 passenger vehicles, reflecting a significant 24% increase from December 2023. This growth spanned various segments, including mini, compact, and utility vehicles.
Hyundai Motor India also reported strong sales, achieving a total of 42,208 sales in December, while Tata Motors enjoyed a steady growth, selling 44,230 units, notably benefiting from its electric vehicle offerings which saw an 11% increase.
Meanwhile, TVS Motor Company announced a 7% growth in monthly sales, with 321,687 units sold in December, compared to 301,898 units a year earlier. Their two-wheeler segment rose by 8%, powered largely by a remarkable 30% growth in scooter sales.
TVS also highlighted an impressive 79% surge in its electric vehicle segment, selling 20,171 units, further emphasizing the growing demand for EVs in the Indian market. This trend indicates a broader consumer shift towards electric mobility as automakers ramp up investments in sustainable vehicle technologies.
