Islamic State has claimed responsibility for an attack on a military base in Somalia's Puntland region.
The assault, executed by 12 militants using two booby-trapped vehicles, resulted in the deaths of around 22 Puntland military personnel.
Somali authorities have not provided immediate comments regarding the incident.
Prior to the attack, Puntland security forces reportedly repulsed an assault by Islamic State suicide bombers.
Since its establishment in 2017, Islamic State in Somalia has evolved from a minor threat to a key player in the jihadist network, under the leadership of Abdulqadir Mumin.
