Luka Dončić, star guard for the Dallas Mavericks, has become the latest victim in a troubling trend of professional athletes experiencing home burglaries. According to reports from his business manager, Lara Beth Seager, a break-in occurred at Dončić's residence on Friday night while he was away, resulting in the theft of jewelry valued at approximately $30,000. The player has since filed a police report regarding the incident.

This event marks Dončić as the sixth known professional athlete targeted in a series of similar burglaries across the United States since October. Notable figures affected include NFL stars Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Travis Kelce, as well as NBA players Bobby Portis and Mike Conley Jr.. These recurring break-ins have prompted both the NFL and NBA to issue security alerts urging athletes to enhance home security measures.

Commenting on Dončić’s situation, his coach, Jason Kidd, stated, "I’ve reached out to Luka and talked to him after that incident. He’s fine. Glad no one got hurt." This incident occurred just two days after Dončić sustained a left calf injury during a Christmas Day game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, which is expected to sideline him for about a month.

As athletes continue to face risks to their personal safety and privacy, many are questioning the effectiveness of current security protocols aimed at protecting them and their homes.
