Israeli media indicates that the military might remain in South Lebanon past the agreed 60-day withdrawal from the ceasefire established on November 27.
The ceasefire was supported by the US and France, and previous violations by Israel have raised significant concerns.
Since the ceasefire, while Hezbollah has halted rocket launches, Israel continues to demolish infrastructure and restrict civilians from returning home.
If Israel fails to withdraw as promised, there are currently no enforceable mechanisms in place beyond the threat of renewed hostilities.
UNIFIL is urging Israel to withdraw and ensure compliance with the ceasefire terms amidst continued Israeli violations.
