On Wednesday, a knife attack at Vocational School Complex No. 4 in Ostroleka, Poland, resulted in injuries to eight individuals, including students and teachers. The attacker, identified only as a 19-year-old student, was arrested shortly after the incident, which occurred around 11 a.m. local time, according to Reuters and India Times.
The school attack left several individuals injured, including four students, two teachers, and two passersby. Some victims sustained serious wounds, necessitating helicopter evacuations to nearby hospitals. Although details about the weapon used were not disclosed, authorities confirmed that the suspect was also injured at the time of his arrest, which was attributed to “self-mutilation,” according to Los Angeles Times.
Emergency services responded promptly to the chaotic scene, and local officials indicated that the attack had been swiftly brought under control. Ostroleka Mayor Paweł Niewiadomski reassured the public, stating during a press briefing that "the most important information is that the situation has been brought under control" and announced that psychological support would be available for those impacted, according to Reuters and India Times.
