Bangladesh is currently enduring one of the world's worst measles outbreaks, with health officials confirming that at least 1,002 children have died due to the disease since March. Over 187,484 infections have been reported, marking this year's outbreak as the deadliest in decades, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Al Jazeera, SCMP, and Los Angeles Times.

The outbreak is largely attributed to considerable gaps in vaccination coverage, which worsened following political upheaval that disrupted routine immunization programs in 2024 and 2025. Around 4 million children were left unvaccinated, creating vulnerable pockets for the disease to thrive. Health Minister Sardar Md.
