Two US service members were killed and one remains missing after Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks on a military base in Jordan on July 17, according to BBC. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that in addition to these casualties, four other service members were medically evacuated and later discharged from hospitals in Jordan.
The Pentagon confirmed that these fatalities represent the first American troop deaths resulting from direct Iranian fire since the conflict escalated significantly.
