Local authorities confirm that at least eleven people died when a small aircraft crashed in Tomblaine, northeastern France. The victim list includes the pilot along with ten others—five students and five instructors—from a parachutist school, as reported by Al Jazeera and BBC.
The crash, which took place near the Nancy-Essey aerodrome, occurred in a grassy area close to residential zones and shopping centers. Regional prefect Yves Séguy described the aircraft as registered in Germany, stating, "There were no bystanders among the victims," according to India Times and Le Monde.
