At least six individuals were reportedly killed in a shooting spree across multiple locations in Muscatine, Iowa, attributed to a domestic dispute. The suspected gunman, identified as Ryan Willis McFarland, 52, later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound when police confronted him, according to Indiatimes and BBC.
On Monday, police received multiple reports of shootings around noon, leading them to a home where they found four victims dead from gunshot wounds. Following these discoveries, officers located McFarland nearby, where he subsequently took his own life, as noted by CBS News and Indiatimes.
Authorities later discovered two additional victims, both believed to be relatives of McFarland, at separate locations—a home and a business. Muscatine Police Chief Anthony Kies characterized the incident as an "act of evil," stating that all victims were thought to be family members of the deceased suspect. However, details about the victims have not been released, according to BBC and CBS News.
The investigation into the homicides is ongoing, with police processing multiple crime scenes and seeking further information. Superintendent Chris Christopher stated, "Our hearts are broken for the family members, friends, colleagues, classmates...affected by this unimaginable loss," reflecting the community's grief over the incident, as reported by CBS News.
