  • She kept the diagnosis secret due to personal struggles during her treatment.
  • The documentary includes insights on early detection and health awareness for breast cancer.
  • Minogue's song "Story" reflects her experience and the challenges she faced during treatment.
  • Her first diagnosis in 2005 raised significant awareness about breast cancer screenings.

Kylie Minogue has candidly shared her experience of battling breast cancer for the second time, this time keeping it private until now. In her newly released Netflix documentary, she revealed, "My second cancer diagnosis was in early 2021. I was able to keep that to myself ... Not like the first time," reflecting on the contrast between her two experiences with the disease. Minogue, 57, confirmed her successful treatment and feeling healthy, stating, "Thankfully, I got through it. Again. And all is well," according to Indiatimes, BBC, and Channel News Asia.

During her treatment in 2021, Minogue chose not to publicly share her diagnosis, explaining that she struggled to find the right time and felt like "a shell of a person." The success of her Grammy-winning single "Padam Padam" added to her conflict, as she felt the need to address her health in interviews but wasn't ready to do so. She expressed gratitude for being able to perform and emphasized that her passion for music has grown, as reported by Indiatimes and BBC.

Minogue noted the importance of early detection after her second diagnosis, which she discovered during a routine check-up. She hopes sharing her story will encourage others to be more proactive about their health. "There will be someone out there who will benefit from a gentle reminder to do their check-ups," she stated, further highlighting the significance of regular healthcare appointments for early detection of breast cancer, according to Indiatimes and Channel News Asia.

In the documentary, she also discusses her earlier battle with breast cancer, which was first diagnosed in 2005. This diagnosis prompted her to cancel major performances, including her Showgirl tour and a slot at Glastonbury Festival. Her openness during her first diagnosis was seen as a pivotal moment for raising awareness about breast cancer, which led to a notable increase in women's health screenings, recognized as the "Kylie effect" in Australia, as detailed in BBC and Channel News Asia.

Throughout the documentary, Minogue reflects on how her experiences have shaped her, touching on personal topics including her fertility struggles amidst her cancer treatment. Her song "Story," which appears on her latest album "Tension," encapsulates her private battles with lyrics that reveal her decision to keep certain experiences to herself, underscoring the emotional weight of her journey, according to Indiatimes, BBC, and Channel News Asia.
