Australia’s Qantas was forced to divert a flight from Melbourne to Dallas due to a disruptive passenger who allegedly bit a flight attendant. This incident prompted an emergency landing in Papeete, French Polynesia, where the passenger was met by local authorities and given a no-fly ban for all Qantas flights, according to SCMP and Channel News Asia.
During the flight, which occurred on Friday, passengers and crew intervened to assist the crew member after the assault. Following the diversion, the aircraft was refueled and continued its journey, arriving in Dallas the next morning, according to India Times and Channel News Asia.
The Qantas spokesperson stressed the airline's commitment to safety, stating, "The safety of our customers and our crew is our number one priority and we have zero tolerance for disruptive or threatening behaviour on our flights," a message echoed across various news sources reporting the incident, including SCMP, Channel News Asia, and India Times.
