D4vd, the alt-pop singer known as David Anthony Burke, was arrested on April 16 on suspicion of murdering 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose decomposed body was discovered in a Tesla registered to him. The remains were found in September 2025 after the vehicle was reported for a foul odor and towed from the Hollywood Hills, according to latimes and Reuters.

Rivas Hernandez had been missing since 2024 and would have turned 15 the day after her body was found. Investigators revealed that her remains were secured in cadaver bags within the trunk of the vehicle, with parts of her body severed, as detailed in court documents shared by BBC and NPR.

The police are preparing to present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office for formal charges, highlighting that D4vd was under a grand jury investigation even before his arrest, which was a closely held secret, as per reports from Channel News Asia and Africanews.

Despite the serious allegations, his attorneys have stated their commitment to defending his innocence, asserting that evidence will show he did not commit murder, as conveyed by Al Jazeera and Africanews.
