  • A Florida woman pleaded not guilty to attempted murder after shooting at Rihanna's home.
  • Ivana Ortiz, 35, used an AR-15 style rifle, endangering Rihanna and her family.
  • The incident occurred on March 8, with Ortiz facing multiple felonies and possible life in prison.

Ivana Lisette Ortiz, a 35-year-old from Florida, pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder and over a dozen felony counts after allegedly firing shots at singer Rihanna's home in Beverly Crest. The incident took place on March 8 while Rihanna and her partner, A$AP Rocky, along with their three children, were present at the property. Prosecutors allege Ortiz discharged around 20 rounds from an AR-15 style rifle, striking the singer’s mansion and a neighboring house without causing any injuries, according to LA Times, SCMP, and Reuters.

During the court proceedings, Ortiz's lawyer requested to reduce her bail from $1.9 million to $70,000, citing financial constraints; however, the judge denied this as district attorneys argued that Ortiz posed a significant threat to public safety. The judge emphasized the premeditated nature of the alleged crime, as Ortiz was allegedly found with a disguise at the time of her arrest, according to BBC and SCMP.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office detailed that Ortiz is charged with one count of attempted murder, ten counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and three counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or vehicle, which could lead to a life sentence if she is convicted. Ortiz has not publicly commented on the case, and her next preliminary hearing is set for April 8, according to LA Times and Reuters.
