Mikaela Shiffrin has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing her sixth women's overall World Cup skiing title, tying the record held by Austrian great Annemarie Moser-Pröll. In the final race of the season, held in Norway, she finished 11th in the women's giant slalom, which was enough to clinch the title despite an emerging challenge from German skier Emma Aicher, who finished her run in 12th place. Shiffrin matched Moser-Pröll's titles won in the 1970s and previously secured the championship in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023, according to CBS News and Reuters.
Throughout the season, Shiffrin's consistency was exceptional, accumulating 1,410 points, significantly ahead of Aicher's 1,323 points. This achievement coincided with her successful return to Olympic competition, where she won another gold medal in slalom at the Milano Cortina games, marking her first Olympic title since 2018. Shiffrin continues to dominate the sport, holding a record of 110 World Cup victories, far surpassing other competitors, including Ingemar Stenmark, with 86 wins, according to India Times and Reuters.
