  • Dubai International Airport temporarily suspended operations following aerial interceptions from Iran.
  • Emirates airline suspended and later resumed flights amid the incident.
  • The UAE's Ministry of Defence confirmed no attacks occurred at the airport.
  • Operations are currently monitored closely amid ongoing regional tensions.
  • Passenger safety remains the priority during these disruptions.

Dubai International Airport, one of the busiest in the world, halted operations on Saturday due to an aerial interception related to strikes from Iran. The Dubai Media Office stated, "For the safety of passengers, airport staff, and airline crew, operations at Dubai International (DXB) have been temporarily suspended," following reports of a loud explosion and smoke rising near the airport, according to Channel News Asia and India Times.

Emirates, the largest airline in the Middle East, announced a complete suspension of flights to and from Dubai until further notice. They urged passengers not to travel unless their flights were confirmed, as operations were rapidly changing, reports AA. However, shortly after, Emirates communicated via the social media platform X that flights would resume in the afternoon, including for transit passengers, aligning with updates from local authorities, according to AA.

Furthermore, the Emirati authorities categorically denied any attack on the airport, instead describing the incident as an isolated event resulting in no injuries. Information on the broader context indicates that these tensions relate to Iran's missile and drone threats across the region, particularly concerning US military assets in Gulf countries, as cited by AA and Channel News Asia.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates confirmed their air defences are responding to such threats without specifying targets, contributing to ongoing vigilance surrounding the airport operations, according to Channel News Asia and India Times.
