  • Quentin Griffiths fell from the 17th floor of a condominium in Pattaya, Thailand.
  • An autopsy revealed no signs of foul play, sparking speculation about his death.
  • Griffiths was reportedly under stress due to ongoing court cases with his ex-wife.
  • The British Foreign Office is in contact with local authorities regarding the case.
  • Asos, which Griffiths co-founded, has struggled with profitability in recent years.

Quentin Griffiths, the co-founder of the British online fashion retailer Asos, died after falling from the 17th floor of a condominium in Pattaya, Thailand, on February 9, 2026. Investigating officials reported that Griffiths was found dead on the ground below the balcony, with his room locked from the inside and no signs of forced entry, indicating the possibility of suicide, although initial investigations showed no evidence of foul play, according to BBC, Channel News Asia, and South China Morning Post.

Police revealed that Griffiths was involved in two ongoing court cases that might have contributed to his distress, as he was separated from his second wife, a Thai national. A friend informed authorities that he had expressed worries over the legal disputes, with documents pertaining to these cases found in his apartment, as highlighted by Reuters and India Times.

This incident surfaced in media reports some days later, after it had stayed relatively unnoticed in Pattaya, which is known for its expatriate community. Griffiths had co-founded Asos, previously known as 'As Seen on Screen,' in 2000, and remained a significant shareholder and marketing director until 2004, according to South China Morning Post and Channel News Asia.

Asos rose to prominence during the rapid expansion of e-commerce but has faced challenges in recent years, including a significant decline in share value, with its stock plummeting around 96% from its peak, as noted by Reuters and India Times.
