The FBI has confirmed that a glove containing DNA was discovered about two miles from Nancy Guthrie's residence and appears to match that worn by a masked individual seen on a doorbell camera footage prior to her disappearance. This glove was sent for DNA testing, and the preliminary results were received recently, with official confirmation pending, according to CBS News, BBC, and South China Morning Post.
Investigators reported that they had collected around 16 gloves from the vicinity of Guthrie's home, most of which were discarded by searchers involved in the investigation. The glove with the DNA profile is distinct and seems to correlate with the gloves seen on the individual in the surveillance footage, which also displayed characteristics such as a backpack and masked appearance, according to Reuters and Channel News Asia.
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen on January 31 and reported missing the following day. Authorities expressed concerns regarding her health, as she requires daily medication and has pre-existing health conditions, which raises the urgency of finding her. Blood traces found on her porch indicated that she was likely harmed, prompting an extensive and ongoing search effort by law enforcement, including the FBI and local sheriff’s office, as reported by Los Angeles Times and Channel News Asia.
The FBI has also released descriptions of the suspect seen in the video, stating he is approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build, which has become a critical focus in the investigation. Investigators continue to follow leads, including surfacing ransom notes delivered to media outlets, while urging the public to provide any information regarding the case, as highlighted by Reuters, CBS News, and Los Angeles Times.
