The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has initiated an investigation into Nike, focusing on claims that the company discriminated against white employees. The federal agency states that Nike may have engaged in "a pattern or practice of disparate treatment against White employees, applicants, and training program participants," particularly concerning hiring and layoff decisions, as well as workforce development initiatives, according to CBS News.
The EEOC's inquiry stems from a complaint filed by America First Legal, an organization known for opposing diversity initiatives. The commission's court filings reveal that Nike allegedly refused to comply with a subpoena that sought comprehensive workforce data dating back to 2018, including information on employee demographics and development program selections, according to Reuters and BBC.
