U.S. snowboarder Chloe Kim, who won back-to-back Olympic gold medals in the halfpipe, has confirmed she will compete in the upcoming Milano Cortina Games despite suffering a labrum tear in her shoulder during a training session in Switzerland. She expressed in an Instagram update that she is “good to go" for the Games despite being unable to train leading up to the event, which runs from February 6-22, 2026, according to BBC and South China Morning Post.
Kim revealed that an MRI confirmed the tear, but stated that the injury is less severe than anticipated, allowing her hopes to compete to remain alive. “There are two different ways to do it, and I guess the way I did it is less severe than the other, so I’m really happy about that,” she noted, highlighting her gratitude for being able to participate in the Olympics, according to Reuters.
As she prepares for the Winter Olympics, Kim has already qualified for the U.S. team and remains a strong favorite to win. However, she will miss the World Cup event in Laax this weekend and has had minimal time to train due to her injury. She commented, “I haven’t gotten nearly the amount of reps that I would have liked, but that’s okay,” according to BBC, South China Morning Post, and Reuters.
