Perry Bamonte, guitarist and keyboard player for the influential band The Cure, has died at the age of 65, as confirmed by the band on their official website on Friday. Bamonte passed away "after a short illness at home over Christmas," according to a statement that expressed "enormous sadness" at the loss of their "great friend and bandmate" and referred to him as “warm-hearted and vital” to The Cure's legacy, according to South China Morning Post, Reuters, and Channel News Asia.
Bamonte became a full member of The Cure in 1990 after previously working as a roadie for the band, contributing significantly to their development and sound. His involvement spanned crucial albums, including "Wish," which featured hits like "Friday I'm in Love," and he performed over 400 shows in his tenure with the band, as noted by NPR and Le Monde.
