Six British men, including 49-year-old Philip Young, have been charged with more than 60 sexual offences against his ex-wife, Joanne Young, over a span of 13 years, according to BBC, SCMP, and Reuters. The charges against Young include multiple counts of rape, administering a substance with intent to stupefy, voyeurism, and the possession of indecent images.
Young's alleged crimes occurred between 2010 and 2023, with the police describing the case as stemming from a "complex and extensive investigation," according to BBC and SCMP. Joanne Young has waived her legal right to anonymity, allowing her to seek justice publicly.
Alongside Philip Young, five other men face charges related to sexual offences against Joanne. These charges range from rape to sexual assault, with all six due to appear in court soon. Det Supt Geoff Smith emphasized the importance of the investigation, which has seen extensive support for the victim from specially trained officers throughout the process, as reported by Reuters.
