  • 58 million pounds of corn dogs and sausages recalled in the U.S.
  • Products include “State Fair Corn Dogs” and “Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a Stick.”
  • Contamination possibly caused by pieces of wood in the batter.
  • Consumers advised to throw away or return recalled products.
  • Five reported injuries related to the contamination.

About 58 million pounds of corn dogs and sausage-on-a-stick products are being recalled across the United States due to potential contamination with pieces of wood embedded in the batter. The recall includes "State Fair Corn Dogs on a Stick" and "Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a Stick," which are produced by Texas-based Hillshire Brands, a subsidiary of Tyson Foods. This action comes after several reports of injuries associated with consuming these products, prompting the recall as a precautionary measure, according to Indiatimes, CBS News, and The Hill.

The contamination problem was discovered after Hillshire Brands received multiple consumer complaints, five of which involved injuries. The products were produced between March 17, 2025, and September 26, 2025. Tyson has stated that this issue appears to be localized to one facility in Haltom City, Texas, noting their decision to recall the products "out of an abundance of caution," according to CBS News and The Hill.

The affected corn dog and sausage-on-a-stick products were sold online and distributed to numerous retail and food service locations nationwide, including school districts and Department of Defense facilities. The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has urged consumers to confirm product identifications through packaging labels, checking for establishment numbers “EST-582” or “P-894.” If consumers possess these products, they are advised to either dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase, as highlighted by multiple sources including Indiatimes and CBS News.
