At least two individuals have lost their lives and six others have sustained injuries due to multiple tornadoes that struck Texas and Mississippi on Saturday, causing significant damage to homes and vehicles. As the storm system advanced eastward across Alabama in the early hours of Sunday, the (AP News) reported that severe weather conditions led to numerous tornado sightings, with about 40 reports spanning from southeastern Texas to Alabama.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a fatality occurred in the Liverpool area of Texas, located south of Houston, where four additional individuals suffered injuries categorized as non-critical. The (Independent) reported multiple touchdown points across Brazoria County, with officials assessing the damage to approximately ten homes.

In Mississippi, one death was confirmed in Adams County, accompanied by injuries in Franklin County, as per the (Guardian). Two tornadoes impacted areas near Bude and Brandon, resulting in substantial structural damage, including roofs being ripped from buildings.

As the hazardous weather system continued moving eastward, meteorologist Josh Lichter advised that conditions could worsen, noting, "These storms are probably going to get a lot worse this evening and overnight the further east you go." It is estimated that at least six tornadoes touched down in the Houston area; more damages may be revealed as assessments are conducted.

NWS reports indicated that severe weather initially delayed flights by over an hour at both Bush Intercontinental and Hobby airports in Houston. This storm also resulted in power outages, affecting over 67,000 customers in Mississippi and thousands more in surrounding states, according to electric utility tracking website PowerOutage.us.

The forecasts from the NWS indicated that further severe thunderstorm warnings would be issued for sections of Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, emphasizing the risk of damaging winds up to 60 mph (96.5 kph). Authorities continue to monitor the situation as first responders focus on ensuring safety and accounting for affected individuals, with thorough damage assessments expected to commence shortly, as noted by the (Time).
