  • Macrons file a 22-count defamation lawsuit against Candace Owens.
  • They plan to present photographic and scientific evidence to prove Brigitte Macron's gender.
  • Claims against Brigitte Macron include that she was born male, which are deemed defamatory.

Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, are preparing to present photographic and scientific evidence in a defamation suit against US right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who claimed that Brigitte Macron was born male. This lawsuit, filed in July in Delaware, comprises 22 counts accusing Owens of knowingly spreading false allegations, including claims of incest and conspiracy related to their family, as well as asserting that Brigitte is transgender, according to BBC, South China Morning Post, and India Times.

The couple's lawyer, Tom Clare, emphasized Brigitte Macron's distress regarding these allegations, describing them as a "distraction" for the French president. Clare stated the couple is determined to demonstrate that these claims are false and indicated that there would be expert testimony supporting their case, although he did not disclose the exact nature of this evidence, according to India Times and Anadolu Agency.

The suit has escalated from previous legal challenges, including a failed defamation case in France against two bloggers who originally propagated similar rumors. The complaints against Owens specify that her statements are part of a broader campaign that is "invasive, dehumanising, and deeply unjust," adding layers of complexity to the Macrons' legal battle, according to South China Morning Post and Anadolu Agency.
