  • Trump celebrates ABC's decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live!
  • Kimmel's suspension follows controversial comments regarding Charlie Kirk's death.
  • FCC chair warns that corrective action may be taken against Kimmel.
  • Trump's office labels Kimmel as having "zero talent."
  • Calls for NBC to follow ABC's lead in cancelling its late-night shows.

President Donald Trump expressed his approval over ABC's suspension of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" referring to the late-night host as having "zero talent". In a post on Truth Social, he praised ABC for the “courage” to cancel Kimmel's show, which he claimed was struggling with ratings, stating, "Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that's possible" according to Business Insider, Newsweek, and India Times.

ABC's suspension stems from Kimmel’s comments related to the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. His remarks prompted backlash, leading Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chair Brendan Carr to warn that further sanctions could ensue if ABC did not address the issue appropriately. Carr stated, "We can do this the easy way or the hard way", indicating potential repercussions for the network, as reported by Newsweek and India Times.

Additionally, Trump's administration has vocally criticized Kimmel, labeling him a "sick freak" post-suspension. Trump's Deputy Chief of Staff emphasized this as part of a larger trend of accountability in media, stating, "Normal, common sense Americans are no longer taking the bullshit". This sentiment was echoed by the White House's rapid response social media account, pushing the narrative of media accountability against hosts like Kimmel, according to Business Insider and India Times.
