  • Powerball jackpot climbs to an estimated $1.1 billion.
  • Next drawing scheduled for Labor Day with a cash value of $498.4 million.
  • No winning ticket for the previous drawing's $1 billion jackpot.

The Powerball jackpot has surged to an estimated $1.1 billion, making it the fifth-largest prize in the game's history. This rise follows Saturday night's drawing, where the winning numbers were 3, 18, 22, 27, and 33, with a Powerball of 17. No tickets matched all six numbers, and this marks the ongoing absence of a grand prize winner since May 31, according to CBS News and Los Angeles Times.

The jackpot has an estimated cash option of $498.4 million available before taxes. Players continue to flock to participate, with tickets available in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Powerball's Product Group Chair emphasized, "America has waited all year for the chance to play for a billion-dollar jackpot," according to ABC News.

In the last drawing, while no one won the jackpot, nine tickets matched all five white balls, netting each a prize of $1 million. Four of these winners were located in California, highlighting the state's pivotal role in the lottery's history, which includes notable winnings of up to $2.04 billion from previous draws, according to CBS News and Newsweek.

The next Powerball drawing will take place on Labor Day, with much anticipation from hopeful players. The odds of winning the jackpot remain steep at 1 in 292.2 million. As excitement builds, the current streak of non-winning draws is approaching the record of 42, last set in 2024, as reported by ABC News and Los Angeles Times.
