Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar described the sixth Strategic Dialogue held in Islamabad with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi as “fruitful.” The discussions covered a range of topics, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), trade, and regional stability, emphasizing the longstanding “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” between the two nations, according to Dawn and Dawn.

During this dialogue, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the development of CPEC, with an emphasis on transforming it into a “growth corridor” and enhancing cooperation in agriculture, industry, and mineral development. Wang Yi stated that the corridor was crucial for improving the welfare of the Pakistani people and fostering economic resilience, reports Dawn and Dawn.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a meeting with Wang Yi, emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering support for China and expressed the desire to expand bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including trade and information technology. Sharif underscored the need for close collaboration to ensure regional peace and stability, which was also echoed during conversations with top military officials, including Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, according to TRT Global and Dawn.

The dialogue also touched upon crucial matters of regional security and counter-terrorism efforts. Wang Yi commended Pakistan’s ongoing efforts in combatting terrorism and expressed China’s commitment to support Pakistan’s sovereignty and development. The two sides agreed to enhance security cooperation and improve the regional security dialogue mechanism, as per statements from both the Pakistani and Chinese foreign ministries India Times and Dawn.

In addition to the strategic discussions, the joint efforts against terrorism were emphasized during a trilateral meeting in Kabul, which included the foreign ministers of Afghanistan. It highlighted collaboration in areas like trade and regional development, indicating a broader commitment to work together in stabilizing the region, according to Dawn, Dawn, and India Times.
