  • A Florida woman was arrested after treating over 4,400 patients while impersonating a nurse.
  • Autumn Bardisa, 29, allegedly used another nurse's license and falsified documents.
  • She is facing multiple charges including practicing without a license and identity fraud.

A 29-year-old woman named Autumn Bardisa has been arrested in Florida for allegedly posing as a registered nurse and providing medical care to over 4,400 patients without valid credentials, according to BBC and India Times.

Bardisa treated patients at AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway from June 2024 until January 2025 before her employment was terminated due to suspicions regarding her qualifications. The investigation revealed that she had submitted false documents and used the license number of another nurse with a similar name while claiming that discrepancies arose from a recent name change after marriage, as reported by the Los Angeles Times and India Times.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office described the case as one of the most disturbing instances of medical fraud they have encountered. Following a seven-month investigation involving state and federal health agencies, Bardisa was ultimately charged with seven counts of practicing healthcare without a license and seven counts of identity fraud, according to BBC and Los Angeles Times.

Her arrest took place on August 5 in the driveway of her residence, while she was dressed in scrubs. Bardisa is currently being held at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility on a bond of $70,000, with a court date set for September 2, as noted by Los Angeles Times and India Times.
